Germany did wear the rainbow, but on their boots
The Germany national side protested against FIFA who banned wearing the rainbow-coloured armband, but nobody said anything aboyut shoes, and the Germans made the most of their boots to show the flag.

Germany have had enough. The national side, who wanted to wear the 'OneLove' armband to show support to the LGBTQ+ community, were not able to after FIFA banned it, and against Japan they protested against the organisation.
The players, in the team photo, did a pre-meditated gest covering their mouths to show their disapproval infront of the media of eveyrhting which surrounds the treatment of human rights in Qatar.
Despite not being able to wear the armband, the players used other resources. Nobody said anything about their footwear and they all put the rainbow flag on their boots. A small detail which is a credit to the German side.
Even if it was a small touch, the squad, during the warm-up, wore shirts with said colours to show their collective support. "Banning the armband from us is like covering up our voices. Our stance remains the same", the Germany side said.
