From eight goals in January...to none in February

After five games in the second month of the year, Leo Messi has not once got his name on the scoresheet. The complete opposite of January, where he was on flying form, scoring more than a goal per game.

Messi has dropped the ball in February. One of his worst enemies recently has been the goal post, with the Argentine being denied by the woodwork fourteen times this season. This is one factor that has prevented him from continuing his strong January goalscoring form; he has gone from eight goals in the month of January to zero so far in February

That being said, he has continued to be key for the team, providing assists just as regularly as in the first month of the year (four in January, three so far in February).

There are still two games left in the month for the Barca magician to break his February duck. The Catalan side face Girona and Chelsea, two sides who will not make it easy for Messi to return to the scoresheet though.

Despite his recent drought however, Messi is still the highest scorer in the league, with 20 goals, as well as 12 assists, although Ronaldo is catching up.
