Manchester City kick off their Champions League campaign with a trip to Feyenoord and will be expecting nothing less than all three points.

Both teams head into the Group F clash in impressive form, Feyenoord have won all four of their Dutch Eredivisie fixtures this season, scoring 12 goals and City enter the game off the back of a 5-0 routing of Liverpool.

Goalkeeper Ederson has trained in protective headgear ahead of the opener meaning he could be in contention for a place in Pep Guardiola's starting XI.

Vincent Kompany will play no part in the fixture due to a calf injury while midfielder Yaya Toure has not travelled with the squad.

Raheem Sterling is available for selection following a domestic ban and Claudio Bravo is on hand if City decide not to risk Ederson.

Feyenoord boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst is expecting big things from the visitors this season.

"They have had a good start to the season, and they are a big club with a good coach and great players," the former Arsenal player said.

"I have seen a couple of matches and they are one of the best teams in Europe. It is a big task for us but a big opportunity for us to get a result.

"If you have a squad like Man City have, players with a lot of qualities and experience - for me it is one of the teams that can win the actual Champions League."

Possible lineups:

Manchester City: Ederson; Walker, Stones, Otamendi, Mendy; Fernandinho; Sterling, De Bruyne, Silva, Sane; Aguero

Feyenoord: Jones; Diks, Botteghin, Heijden, Nelom; Ahmadi, Toornstra, Vilhena; Berghuis, Kramer, Boetius
