Chelsea defender makes Champions League history
Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta wrote himself into Champions League history with his goal against Qarabag on Tuesday.
In scoring, the former Torino man became the the 100th Italian player to score in the competition.
Those 100 players have scored 399 goals between them in the Champions League, though a handful of players have scored the majority of those.
AC Milan legend Filippo Inzaghi leads the list with 46 goals, just ahead of former Juventus man Alessandro Del Piero who managed 42.
The first goal scored by an Italian in the competition came thanks to AC Milan midfielder Demetrio Albertini who scored after just seven minutes of his side's 4-0 win over Lyon on September 16, 1992.
Curiously, Zappacosta's manager Antonio Conte is also one of the 100, having scored five Champions League goals during his career, two less than former Middlesbrough man Fabrizio Ravanelli, who scored winner in the 1996 Champions League final.
