The world of football is in mourning at the death of Argentina legend Diego Maradona at the age of 60. He died of natural causes.

World Cup legend Diego Maradona has sadly passed away at the age of 60 on Wednesday.

The ex-player is widely regarded as one of the best players of all time and the world of football is in mourning.

Maradona started his career at Argentinos Juniors where he played between 1976 and 1981. He then went on to have a trophy-laden career for several clubs in Europe.

The Argentine is regarded as one of the best players ever to play the beautiful game and he scored the best ever goal at a World Cup when he scored against England in 1986. In the same match he also scored the 'Hand of God', a goal which has gone down in history.

The striker had spells at Boca Juniors and Barcelona, before playing the majority of his matches for Napoli in Serie A.

Maradona sadly had health problems in the latter years of his life and he was hospitalised not long ago for a blood clot in his brain.

He will undoubtedly be remembered for winning the World Cup with Argentina in Mexico 1986 and is a national hero.

Throughout his career, Diego won 1 Argentina Championship, 1 Copa del Rey, 1 Copa de la Liga, 1 Spanish Super Cup, 2 Serie As, 1 Coppa Italia, 1 UEFA Cup and 1 Italian Super Cup. He has also won a plethora of individual awards and Napoli retired the number 10 in his honour.

R.I.P Maradona. Football will never forget you.
