Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi was presented as a Valencia player this weekend. He arrives on loan from Chelsea, and claims that the reason he joined Valencia has the conversation he had with coach Marcelino García Toral.

Batshuayi, 24, was out of favour at Chelsea under both Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri. After being loaned to Borussia Dortmund in the second-half of last season and finishing with a rather prolific goal tally, Batshuayi will now play in La Liga under Marcelino.

"There were plenty of clubs who wanted to sign me but after talking to Marcelino, a bond was generated and he convinced me to sign. This is a strong team who play in the Champions League and fight against the best, but what convinced me most was my conversation with the coach," said Batshuayi.

The Belgium international did not want to enter into disputes with Sevilla's president, Pepe Castro, who, after seeing the player choose Valencia over the 'Rojiblancos', said that in the Champions League Batshuayi would only play four games for Valencia, while he could have played 30 in the Europa League for Valencia.

"I've come here to play for a Valencia side who want to play more than four games in the Champions League. My wish is to win a title with Valencia this season."

Valencia finished fourth in the last campaign to secure Champions League qualification.
