Idan Ofer, the Israeli billionaire who bought a 15% stake in Atletico Madrid, bought a replica of the Ballon d'Or trophy won by Cristiano Ronaldo in 2013 for 600,000 euros just a few months ago.

In the last few hours, reports emerged that a 15% stake of Atletico Madrid had been bought by Idan Ofer, an Israeli billionaire who has a very peculiar link to Cristiano Ronaldo.

As strange as it seems, this businessman has in his house an exact replica of the Balon d'Or trophy won by the Real Madrid star back in 2013. Last October, Ofer paid 600,000 euros for the impressive trophy in an organized charity auction.

Normally, the clubs receives a replica of the original trophy so that they can display it in their trophy room, but on this occasion, Ronaldo asked for an extra copy so he could donate it to a charitable cause.

And that's where Idan Ofer comes in, and despite his admiration for the Portuguese star, he will become a shareholder in Atletico Madrid when he buys a 15% stake of the club from the Spanish capital.
