Amorim confirms Maguire's fitness ahead of Europa League clash with Lyon

Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim has assured Manchester United fans that Harry Maguire will be fit to face Lyon in Thursday's Europa League quarter-final first leg. The England centre-back was substituted in the 58th minute of Sunday's goalless draw against Manchester City, sparking concerns about his fitness.
"Harry Maguire just had 60 minutes allowed to play from the medical department, so he is fit and ready to go. We need to be careful on this," Amorim explained in an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live. He emphasised that the substitution was not due to injury but part of a carefully managed plan to avoid risks ahead of crucial fixtures.
"It’s not an injury; it’s just (that) we had a time that we could use Harry without any danger. We cannot lose any more players." With United facing a congested schedule and several injuries already affecting key players, the manager stressed the importance of preserving squad fitness.
Victor Lindelof replaced Maguire during the derby and is expected to partner him in defence on Thursday, with Matthijs de Ligt still recovering from a knock sustained last week. Amorim also hinted at potential rotation in other areas of the squad as United prepare for a challenging trip to Lyon.
