Almost all of the South American national teams have competed for a qualifying place in this year's tournament, and it is now time to give you all the information you need to know about it.
The final plans are coming into place ahead of the historic competition, and the national squads are more or less ready for the tournament which will take place in Brazil this year. Chile are in the running for the title which they won in 2015 and 2016.
Attendance and guests
As always, the ten teams who belong to the CONMEBOL, the main footballing body in South America, will participate in the competition, as well as two guests as is tradition.
While the nations belonging to CONCACAF (the organisation which includes North America and Central America) are usually invited, this year is different as they will be competing in the Gold Cup at the same time.
So, this year Japan and Qatar will be the two guest countries at this year's competition. CONMEBOL's good relationship with Japan as well as with the World Cup host's Qatar have earned them a place in the compeition. It will be the second invite for Japan who were invited for the 1999 edition. Qatar will feature in the competition for the first time however. In 2016, Panama and Haiti were the two guest countries.
The 10 other nations featuring are those belonging to CONMEBOL: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Groups
The 12 nations are divided into three groups of four, which were decided after a draw which took place on January 24th in Rio de Janeiro.
Group A: Brazil, Bolivia, Venezuela, Peru
Group B: Argentina, Colombia, Paraguay, Qatar
Group C: Uruguay, Ecuador, Japan, Chile
