Alisson dropped by Liverpool boss Slot for Carabao Cup final

Alisson Becker has been dropped to the bench for the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United, with second-choice goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher starting between the sticks.
Arne Slot has opted to deploy the Ireland international after he started in the majority of the cup games leading up to the final at Wembley. Of Liverpool’s five games in the competition, Kelleher started in three while Alisson and Jaros played a game each.
Speaking on his choice ahead of the Carabao Cup final, Slot said: “That wasn’t that difficult. It was only once when I played Allison, and that was when he was out for injury for quite a long time.
“At that moment, he needed playing time, game time, to be back at his best. But for all the other games, we’ve always played the second choice. And Caoimh has always been so good for us that he also deserves to play this one.”
