Deportivo Alaves have stated this Thursday that they are "against, reject and fully condemn" any type of violence, especially "domestic abuse" after their first team player Oliver Verdon was arrested for presumably attacking his girlfriend.

Verdon was arrested this Wednesday, accused of attacking his girlfriend, as he dragged her by the hair down the hallway in a Vitoria hotel. The player has been released pending trial after standing before the judge on duty this Thursday.

The board of directors of the Vitorian club have issued a statement in which theyemphasise that the events for which Verdon's was arrested "affect his strictly personal aims" and that, "in no way, they are related to the sporting activity of the player or with Deportivo Alavés ".

The report concludes that "in accordance with the most basic principles of defense and presumption of innocence" and with "absolute" respect to the judicial proceedings, the club will proceed to "adopt, where appropriate, the appropriate measures".
