David Alaba only played the last few minutes of the match against Moldova. The Real Madrid player came on as a substitute, as he admitted, because he was not at 100%.
"I feel good, I'm fully recovered," said the Austrian national team player before playing against Israel in the second game of the international break.
Alaba explained that it was a consensual decision with his coach, aware that there were still games to come.
"I spoke to coach Franco Foda and we decided it was the best thing to do. I didn't want to take any risks, that's why I didn't play from the start in the last game," said David Alaba.
The Real Madrid player's involvement was not necessary to secure the three points. Austria beat Moldova 2-0 to move up to third in their group.
