Pep Guardiola's side came flying out of the blocks, dominating from the off and seeing their opponents survive a string of close shaves.
They weren't made to wait too long for the breakthrough though, as Aguero found the net with just 25 minutes gone.
With Ederson presiding over a goal kick, Aguero made himself available for a long ball over the top and the Brazilian duly obliged.
The pass was perfect for the striker to gather the ball just outside the box and lure Huddersfield goalkeeper Ben Hamer to him, before checking back and lifting an effort over the stranded goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
It was a fine finish from the City star, though the importance of the pass from Ederson cannot be understated.
