Kevin De Bruyne's injury had left many wondering how City would cope, but patrons on the blue half of Manchester could have been forgiven for asking 'Kevin who?' after watching their side's performance.
The likes of Aguero, Benjamin Mendy and David Silva all turned in outstanding displays as Huddersfield's dismal start to the season continued.
City came racing out of the blocks early on but were somehow unable to find the net despite a series of close shaves.
Steve Mounie sliced a clearance onto to the top of his own crossbar, whilst Ben Hamer was forced into a sharp save to deny Gabriel Jesus with just three minutes on the clock.
Huddersfield's resistance never looked like lasting too long, though and so it proved as City opened the scoring with 25 minutes gone.
Ederson picked out Aguero with a remarable ball from deep and the Argentine did the rest, luring Hamer before cutting back inside and dinking the ball into the unguarded net.
Two more quick-fire strikes followed as Jesus fired home crisply at the near post following excellent work from Benjamin Mendy and Aguero was quickest to react to tap home after Hamer spilled Mendy's low cross from the left.
However, a momentary lapse in concentration allowed Huddersfield to get a goal back before the break. Philip Billing's long throw was flicked on by Steve Mounie and Jon Stankovic got in ahead of Aymeric Laporte to tap home from close range.
Any hopes of a stunning comeback were soon put to bed, though as David Silva curled home the goal of the game just minutes after the restart.
The Spaniard, making his 250th Premier League appearance for City, found the net with a stunning 25-yard free-kick to restore his side's three-goal advantage.
Aguero, clearly desperate for his hat-trick, continued to look busy in attack, rattling the base of the post from range, before blazing wide after combining well with Jesus.
He needn't have worried as his third did indeed arrive with 15 minutes to play.
Once again Mendy was involved as he curled in a fisrt-time cross from the left, with Aguero getting across his marker to flick the ball into the far corner and secure the match ball.

The scoring wasn't done there as Terrence Kongolo put through his own net late on after substitute Leroy Sane was denied by Hamer to make it six of the best for an inspired City.
The win maintains City's 100% start to their title defence, whilst Hudderfield sit rock bottom of the Premier League having conceded nine goals from two games.
Next up for City is a trip to newly-promoted Wolves on Saturday, whilst Huddersfield host Cardiff the same day.
