Barring any last minute surprises, Clement Lenglet will become a Tottenham player. The London club have reached an agreement in principle with Barcelona for the Frenchman, according to 'Marca'.
The defender, who lost his place in the squad after the arrival of Christensen, will go out on loan to Tottenham after having reached an agreement with the British club.
The deal had been delayed because of the player's salary, as Spurs did not want to pay the full amount. Eventually, it was agreed that Barcelona will pay 15% of the player's salary, while the other 85% will be paid by Tottenham.
Tottenham will also have an option to buy the player, which could be for around ten million euros at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Barcelona gave Lenglet permission to travel to London last weekend, so that he could finalise the deal. Therefore, he was not present for the medical tests at Barcelona on Monday.
By completing this deal, Barca will finalise one of their pending departures from the club to free up wage money, to try and comply with 'Financial Fair Play'. The club is also getting rid of a player who did not see a lot of first team football.
Now, the list of central defenders at Barcelona comprises of Piqué, Eric García, Araujo, Andreas Christensen and Samuel Umtiti, who seems set to leave. The next to arrive could be Jules Koundé.
