The report shows that a total of 3,557 of the more than 17,000 transfers made in 2019 involved at least one intermediary and that spending on commissions paid to them increased to $653.9 million in the year that is about to end (19.3% more than in 2018).
Clubs in Spain, England, France, Italy, Germany, and Portugal made the most payments (80%), the Portuguese spent almost half of what they spent on transfers on intermediaries.
FIFA also indicated that a total of 242 transfers of professional players made since 1st January involved at least one intermediary. Compared to 2018, the participation of these agents has more than doubled and the expenditure on commissions more than tripled.
The data provided by FIFA corresponds to the International Transfer System (ITMS), which is used by the 211 FIFA federations and 7,500 clubs.
