AC Milan chief executive, Ivan Gazidis, has made Mauricio Pochettino his number 1 target for this summer, announcing that AC MIlan are willing to give Pochettino a stunning £300m transfer budget to attempt to lure 'Poch' away from Tottenham Hotspur.
Gazidis, formerly Arsenal's chief executive, has been tasked with getting AC Milan to the top of the European game again, after several years in which they have been 'sleeping giants'. He has now made the decision to try and secure Pochettino's services, with current manager, Gennaro Gattuso, likely to leave the Italian club at the end of the season.
According to 'The Daily Mirror', Gazidis believs the way to secure Pochettino's services are to offer him significant financial backing, something that Tottenham are yet to do. Although there has been a sense of resurgence this season under Gattuso, with Champions League football potentially on the cards, the Milan side sit 32 points behind league leaders Juventus, who are on the verge of their 8th consecutive Serie A title after Milan last won in 2011.
Milan are also still able to win some form of silverware this season as they are in the Coppa Italia Semi-Finals, but Milan are thinking more on a European scale, and want to get back to the glory days that have preceded them.
So far Pochettino has been the subject of serious interest from Real Madrid and Manchester United, but Spurs have always managed to keep their man, and with the new stadium recently built, it is highly unlikely that Daniel Levy will sanction any move away from Tottenham, as they have become regular top 4 finishers.
