The trio formed by Modric, Kroos and Casemiro is one of the key features of Real Madrid's side. The three lead the 'Blanco' midfield and have been fundamental in the team's hunt for trophies.
Many of Europe's elite have tried to break-up the trio, but it has proved impossible. The last to try it was Inter, who chased the signature of Luka Modric up until the deadline.
The future of the Croat was in the balance, though in the end Madrid managed to keep hold of the midfielder - at least until January when Inter are likely to return with another bid.
If Modric is the desire of the 'Neroazzurro', Toni Kroos is the dream of Mourinho. The Portuguese manager wants to add the German into his United squad, but Madrid's response is the same.
Casemiro has also been subject to interest from PSG. The Brazilian international is the least 'attractive' of the midfield three, but half of Europe would love to sign him.

The first time that these three midfield geniuses played together was in October 2015 in La Liga, and the next was month later against PSG in the Champions League. Although Benitez was the first to play them in the same team, the trio became truly established under Zinedine Zidane.
The French technician made these three footballers an undividable 'pack', becoming the heart of the Real Madrid side. Many of the recent 'merengue' successes may not have been made so achievable without the Brazilian, the Croatian and the German in the midfield.
To this trio, 'Los Blancos' add the quality of players such as Isco. The Malaga-born playmaker has added magic to the core of the side. But what seems clear, to whichever manager occupies the dugout, is that Kroos, Modric and Casemiro are irreplaceable.
There are some who wonder if this trio could be the best midfield in Real Madrid history, though the more common view is that they will become a legendary trio.
