'A new contract or a conclusion of some kind' - Palace chief addresses Guehi's future

Marc Guehi has become one of Crystal Palace's biggest stars and one of the most coveted centre-backs in the Premier League this season.
The 25-year-old centre-back has established himself as one of the most in-form defenders in English football and has caught the attention of several top European clubs, which poses a problem for the Eagles ahead of next season.
Guehi's contract expires in 2026, meaning the England international could leave as a free agent once the 2025/26 campaign ends, something Palace want to avoid at all costs, as confirmed by club chairman Steve Parish after his team's victory in the Community Shield against Liverpool.
"Of course, for players of that calibre to leave on a free, it is a problem," he said. "It needs a new contract or a conclusion of some kind," he added.
Therefore, given that reports suggest the 25-year-old centre-back does not want to renew his contract with the Eagles, a permanent move to a new club in the last 20 days is quite possible, with the centre-back having a price tag of around £40 million according to several British media outlets.
