His career has not always been as successful. While generally the most outstanding footballers tend to start showing their best performances at 24-25 years old -or even before-, Teemu Pukki has done it reaching his thirties and in a team that last year was in the Championship just last year.
Born in Finland, Pukki grew up in the youth academy of FC KTP, a club he left at the age of 18. Sevilla took the opportunity to sign him, because they saw in him a promising future, but he did not adapt due to the heat of the Andalusian capital and ended up returning to Finland from the hand of Helsinki when his contract ended with Sevilla.
He arrived free of charge and after scoring 19 goals in 37 games, Schalke 04 opted for him. He spent two seasons in Germany and didn't ft in despite scoring 8 goals in 1,493 minutes. The club decided to transfer him to Celtic, another team in which he had practically no opportunities.
After a season in the Scottish team, he was loaned to Danish Brondby, the team that most trusted him... although it was a club that was not the elite which is why Pukki decided to leave. He waited until the end of his contract and, after 72 goals in 163 games, became a free agent and headed for England.
Norwich could not have been better a better match. Pukki came to England for free and began to write his story. He first helped with 30 goals and 9 assists in 46 games to move up to the Premier League and now finds himself marveling the whole of England.
His start in the English top flight has been unbeatable. Adding five goals and an assistance in four games ('hat trick' included) explain why he entered the nomination for the 'Player of the Month' awarded by the Premier League on a regular basis, with Sergio Aguero, Kevin de Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Firmino and Ashley Barnes as his fellow nominees.
