All eyes were on the Emirates this evening as Arsenal entertained Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. Forest would have been hoping to cause an upset after seeing that Unai Emery had changed his whole team from Sunday's win against Aston Villa. Debuts were given to new signing Kieran Tierney and 18-year-old Brazilian striker, Gabriel Martinelli.
There wasn't much to report from the first half, but from the first minute, 'the Gunners' looked comfortable and never looked under any real pressure. After a few half chances, the deadlock was finally broken after the 31st minute. Nelson played a lofting pass to Chambers on the right who played a first-time pass to find Martinelli, who headed it in the top corner.
With 20 minutes left, Nottingham Forest were by no means out of the game. One down and you never know what can happen. However, all hopes of a comeback faded as Rob Holding marked his return from injury with a headed goal from Nelson's corner.
Then Arsenal turned on the style. 7 minutes later, the ball was played to Bellerín who found Willock in the box who tapped it in the net. A 3-0 scoreline would have been a good result for the young side, but they weren't finished there. Chambers was played down the right who delivered for Nelson, who netted it past Muric in the visitor's net.
With almost the last kick of the ball, Martinelli then got his second after scoring a beauty in the top corner from the edge of the box. Unai Emery and the Arsenal faithful should be excited about the future prospects of the Gunners side, while Forest, on the other hand, will dust themselves down and prepare themselves for their match away to Stoke on Friday.
