Golden Oldie, Barry Richardson, last weekend played as Wycombe Wanderers' replacement goalie and he has now become a role model for many who are still fantasising of becoming footballers.
Richardson, aged 46, is now the third-oldest footballer to play in a league game in England. Neil McBain is still the oldest, when he played as goalkeeper for New Brighton aged 51. And just behind him is Sir Stanley Matthews, who played for Stoke City aged 50.
Richardson was interviewed by the 'Telegraph' about his performance in the match and he said, “I try to keep myself fit, but I couldn’t dive around as much as I used to, my body is not up to it. What I have is experience. And I used that.”
Go Barry Richardson!
