Pep Guardiola has named the 16-year-old in his squad to take on Celtic in the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola has named 16-year-old Phil Foden in his Manchester City squad to take on Celtic in the Champions League.

Foden, born in Stockport in 2000, could become the third youngster City player in history if he comes off the bench against the Bhoys.

If he were to enjoy a dream debut and register a goal, just days after scoring against Manchester United's Under-18s, he would become the youngster goalscorer in the club's history.

Foden is a tricky, pacy No.10 who has been at City since he was six years old.

He only made his debut for the club's U18s last season - when he was just 15 years old.

He has been a prominent member of the squad ever since, despite being two years younger than many of his adversaries, and has represented England at U15, U16 and U17 level.

Glyn Pardoe is the youngest player to have ever played for City at 15 years and 314 days old.

Although Foden cannot beat his record, he could surpass Marcos Lopes, who was 17 years and nine days old, as City's youngest ever scorer.
