On 29 November 1899, Hans Gamper and eleven other men gathered at Barcelona's Gimnas Solé to form an association bearing the city's name and coat of arms: FC Barcelona.
It was the first step in creating one of the most successful clubs in the history of Spanish and European football. The birth of a team that has seen the likes of Luis Suarez, Kubala, Johan Cruyff, Romario, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Xavi, Iniesta and Leo Messi, among many others.
Their first president was Walter Wild, as at 37 he was the oldest member of them all. There began a story that has led Barcelona to be one of the most important clubs in history.
26 Spanish League titles, 30 Copa Del Rey, 13 Spanish Super Cups, 5 European Cups, 4 Cups, 3 Fairs Cup, 5 European Super Cups and 3 Club World Cups are just some of the trophies won by Barcelona in its 120 years of history in football.
It was in 1914, when the athletics section was created, that Barcelona became an interdisciplinary club. Today it has sections in basketball, handball, indoor football, roller hockey, athletics, ice hockey, volleyball and rugby.
