"Bernabeu already said it, they criticize us because they are jealous. We have a great team and a great coach," the Madrid president told 'OK Diario'.
At the presentation of the documentary 'Bernabeu', Perez took the opportunity to sing the praises of the key figure in 'Los Blancos' history.
"I was surprised by many things which I didn't know before. First as a person but also his links with the club during the war and in the post-war period.
"Also how he managed the club. After the war, there was no money but he invested a little bit and created the biggest stadium in the world because he had the idea that the money brought in from ticket sales can help sign the best players.
"And he was right. He signed Di Stefano, Puskas and the rest is history," he added.
Additionally, Perez didn't hesitate to boast that the grandeur of a club like Madrid was the reason for recent criticism, which is simply down to envy.
