Lionel Messi (Barcelona)
Barcelona were not up to par in last seasons Champions League campaign, especially away from home. Messi, however, never failed to show his quality, with his best performances coming against Celtic and Manchester City at the Camp Nou in the group stages. The Argentine also helped his team create history by becoming the first team to overturn a first-leg 4-0 deficit as they knocked out Paris St-Germain to reach the quarter-finals.
Paulo Dybala (Juventus)
Along with Mbappe, Dybala was one of the revalations of last season's Champions League. The Argentine carried his team to the final after putting in impressive performances against Barcelona in the semi-final. The 23-year-old will be a key player for Juventus next season as they look to win Serie A for the seventh year in a row.
Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)
Ronaldo will be the favourite to pick up the award for the best forward of the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League. The Real Madrid man had a slow start to the campaign but put in his best performances when it really mattered. He scored twice in the final against Juventus to help Real Madrid win 4-1 and lift the trophy in Cardiff.
