Victor Lindelof's impending transfer to Manchester United appeared to move a step closer today after the Swedish stopper arrived at United's Carrington training base to undergo a medical ahead of what 'The Daily Mail' report will be a £30.7million move. United annouced that they had agreed a deal for Lindelof with Benfica on Saturday night, though the player was away on international duty with Sweden at the time.
The deal was subject to international clearance, personal terms and a medical, will those factors set to be tied up in the coming days. Those who were still sceptical as to whether Lindelof would ever arrive in Manchester had reason to be, just 18 months ago recently-relegated Middlesbrough thought they had sealed a deal for the player on three separate occasions, even going as far as to book a private jet to bring the player to England before finding that the goalposts had been moved by the player's agent.
That has not been the case this time around and Lindelof is expected to be announced as a Man Utd oplayer either later today or tomorrow. The 22-year-old has been a long term target for United boss Jose Mourinho and his arrival would seem to put an end to United's interest in their former academy star Michael Keane. Speculation about Chris Smalling's role in the side is only set to intensify, with reports in the English press today linking him with a £15million exit.
According to 'The Daily Mail, Lindelof is a model pro, often being the first through the door at training and the last to leave. It remains to be seen whether he will be a success in the Premier League but international team-mate Seb LArsson certainly believes he has all the qualities necessary, "you cannot deny his qualities" he enthused in an interview with 'The Sun' before concluding that "as long as people give him time to adjust, he will undoubtedly succeed at United."
Obrigado por tudo, Victor Lindelöf.#EPluribusUnum pic.twitter.com/net4af5sMd
