Although it may sound strange, the Andalusians have never paid so much for a player. They equalled their record last summer when they signed Franco Vazquez for €13m, the same amound that they paid Real Madrid for Alvaro Negredo.
Muriel will not equal the club-record fee, he will smash it. The current Sevilla side is ambitious and as such they are willing to spend more than ever before as they look to break the dominance of Spain's 'top 3'.
Muriel is expected in Seville shortly to undergo a routine medical and to sign what is expected to be a five-year contract.
The Colombian scored 13 goals in 33 games in all competitions last season for Sampdoria.
