Manchester United's second choice goalkeeper Sergio Romero believes Jose Mourinho's arrival at Old Trafford can help him dislodge David de Gea as the club's first-choice shot stopper.
The Argentinian started United's first six games of the 2015-16 campaign amid the bizzare transfer negotiations with Real Madrid over David De Gea. However, after the move fell through, De Gea regained his starting position and Romero had to warm the bench for the rest of the season, making just four more appearances.
However, the 29-year-old is confident that he will be given more opportunites under Mourinho, and can establish himself as United's number 1.
"Mourinho knows I'm a hard worker and he can count on me," Romero explained to reporters.
"I think the door to becoming United's first goalkeeper is open again for me."
His job could be made easier by Los Blancos, who are reportedly set to go after the Spanish goalkeeper again this summer. However Mourinho is believed to try his best to try and keep the club's Player of the Season at Old Trafford.
