Florentino Perez will remain in charge at Real Madrid until 2021 after he was re-elected by default after no other candidate put themselves forward.
'Sky Sports' have assessed the 70-year-old's record in the role and speculated as to who the side's next galactico could be.
2000:
In the year 2000 Real famously signed Luis Figo from arch-rivals Barcelona for a world-record £54 million. The Portuguese star was joined by the like of Claude Makele as 'los blancos' spent well in excess of £100million. It proved to be money well spent though with Real oging on to win the title the following year.
2004:
After being re-elected Perez focused on the British market, sanctioning deals for then Ballon d'Or holder Michael Owen and Newcastle defender Jonathan Woodgate for fees for £8million and £13.4million respectively.
2009:
After regaining the presidency Perez made arguably his biggest transfer to date, bringing Cristiano Ronaldo to the Bernabeu for a world-record £80million. In the same window Perez sealed the Signings of £59million pound man Kaka from AC Milan, £30million striker Karim Benzema from Lyon as well as Xabi Alonso, Raul Albiol, Esteban Granero and Alvaro Arbeloa. In total Real spent over £200million.
2013:
At the start if his fourth term as President Perez once again set a new world transfer record, paying Tottenham £86million for Welsh star Gareth Bale. The likes of Isco, Asier Illaramendi and Dani Carvajal joined Bale at Real, though on this occasion the incomings were funded by the sales of Mesut Ozil and Gonzalo Higuain.
2017:
What next for Real and what next for Perez? With questions marks hanging over the future of Cristiano Ronaldo, could Real look to bring in a big-name to fill the void of his potential departure? As with every summer, Real have been linked with a move for David Ge Gea, whilst Gianluigi Donnarumma's contract wrangle with AC Milan has led to speuclation he could be set to make the switch to the Bernabeu. Having already spent £40million on 16-year-old Vinicius Junior there could be plenty more signings to come. With Monaco's striking sensation Kylian Mbappe haveing reportedly told 'Marca' that he only wants to join Real, he currently looks the most likely to join Zinedine Zidane's squad at the Bernabeu, with various sources claiming it would take a world record 10 figure fee to lure him away from the French side. One thing is for sure, it looks set to be quite a summer at the Bernabeu.
