Josep María Bartomeu has come out with the details of FC Barcelona's latest sponsorship deal for the next five years. The president reached a pre-election agreement with Qatar Airways and it seems that the Qatari company will continue sponsoring the Catalan club the next campaigns.
The current contracts sees Barcelona pocket almost 35 million euros each year for shirt sponsorship, Qatar Airways is prepared to raise this offer to 65 million annually.
From the offices of the Camp Nou they know that the increased revenue could be used by the club to try to strengthen the team in the winter transfer window and know that they have got the best possible deal from their sponsor. And the Qatari company converted Barcelona into one of the best paid in the world.
Although it is not until the date of the next meeting -24 October- when a final decision is reached, the intent of director Bartomeu is not to present several alternatives to electors partners, but they want to present a unique offer to be approved or rejected.
Thus, although the agreement with Qatar Airways is considered complete, other board members continue to seek alternatives if a company decided to compete with the Qatari company and could raise the offer.
In addition to this agreement, the club is about to close another important sponsorship. Barcelona will also look for a revenue of around 40 million euros for placing advertising on the shirts of training and in other sections of the club.
The treble that Barca won last season has attracted a global audience and has meant they have become one of the most popular an in demand clubs for shirt sponsors.
