Former Real Madrid left-back Roberto Carlos says Neymar is the most impressive player in the world at the moment.
The Barcelona star, 23, is the top scorer in La Liga and was on target in his side’s comprehensive victory over Madrid in the Clasico at the weekend.
Carlos, who is currently managing Indian side Delhi Dynamos, was full of praise for his fellow Brazilian, but doesn’t feel Barca’s win indicates they are necessarily better than Madrid.
“Barcelona winning against Real Madrid doesn't mean they are the best in the world,” the 42-year-old told a news conference.
“At the moment, they do have amazing players, though - [Luis] Suarez, Neymar, [Lionel] Messi, [Andres] Iniesta…
“But Neymar is the player that most impresses the world nowadays.
“Messi will always be number one and the same goes for Cristiano [Ronaldo], but at the moment, during the last three or four months, Neymar has been absolutely amazing - we have to applaud him because he is spectacular.”
Carlos, who played for Madrid between 1996 and 2007, also revealed he’d made bets with some of his players about the outcome of the Clasico - but found himself out of pocket.
“Did Real Madrid play?” he joked when initially asked for his opinion on the game.
“I was in the same position once, we lost 3-0 at the Bernabeu and we didn't get near the goal.
“The problem [for me] is, I made a bet with some of my players, so now I have to pay them!”
