Manchester United seek a morale boost in the Premier League

Jose Mourinho's team have played down the importance of the Premier League in order to fulfil their objective of winning the Europa League. However, the Red Devils will look for an uplifting result at Southampton to end the season on a high.

A mere formality will take place at St. Mary's, as both Sothampton and Manchester United are currently in no man's land on the Premier League table. With nothing to play for, the match that corresponds to matchweek 28 will act as a test drive, especially for Mourinho's men.

The Portuguese manager is set to rest many players, as well as others gathering game time after long absences. There does not seem to be a favourite to take all three points in this fixture that will kick off at 20:45 on Wednesday.

According to the analysis carried out by 'Resultados de Futbol', the Saints have a 34,3% chance of victory, while United have 34,2%. Very tight between two teams that will be missing players such as Van Dijk, Pogba, Long, Ibrahimovic or Fellaini.

Jose Mourinho has his mind on the Europa League final, so he will try to gather some momentum after two consecutive defeats in the Premier League. The final in Stockholm will ultimately decide on this season's success, as it is not only another trophy, but their only hope for Champions League football.

On the other hand, last weekend, Southampton ended a streak of two defeats and two draws in the last four Premier League matches.

Possible lineups:

Soutgampton: Forster, Bertrand, Yoshida, Stephens, Soares, Boufal, Ward-Prowse, Romeu, Davis, Tadic, Gabbiadini.

Manchester United: De Gea, Darmian, Smallind, Tuanzebe, Bailly, Carrick, Mata, Lingard, Herrera, Martial y Rashford.
