The team began the season with troubles, they made their Champions League debut reaching the quarter-finals, where they were unfairly knocked out by Borussia Dortmund. They also qualified for the Europa League. However, a ban stopped the club from taking part in European competitions.

Schuster resigned and Javi Gracia took over. The Spaniard managed a great first half of the season, but the team was weakened towards the end of the campaign. The youngsters (Castillejo, Samu Garcia, Darder, Juanmi, etc.) proved a success, though the 'Samus' (Castillejo and Garcia) left La Rosaleda at the end of the season. The team almost made it to the 'Copa del Rey' semi-finals.
2015/16
Javi Gracia completed a good second season after a slightly bumpy start. The project looked was gaining strength, but Javi Gracia left at the end of the season and went to Rubin Kazan.
