The report, called 'Mbappe hors normes' ('Extraordinary Mbappe'), claimed that Barcelona and Monaco reached an agreement which included the transfer of Arda Turan in the opposite direction to Monaco.
This agreement contained the signing of Mbappe for a hefty figure, as well as the transfer of the Turkish footballer, but ultimately it didn't bear fruit.
'L'Equipe TV' report that Paris Saint-Germain wanted to sign the talented youngster and the player himself wanted to play in Paris. Barcelona were given the go ahead by Monaco, but not by Mbappe.
Mbappe signed for PSG on an initial loan deal with the option to buy next summer for 180 million euros, which would make it the second most expensive transfer in history.
In Barcelona it is well reported that Mbappe was always an option they looked at during the summer, but they eventually decided on Dembele. The agent of both players Jose Luis Miguella revealed the interest from the Catalan club.
"Barcelona had Mbappe for 120 + 30 million euros, but they went with Dembele," Minguella said last month. Now in France, they have given new details of the failed agreement.
