It looks like Real Madrid will have to look for another striker during the upcoming January transfer window. Icardi, who has been heavily linked with Los Blancos in recent weeks, ruled out a move to the Spanish capital during an interview in Argentina.
The Argentinian striker was adamant, although everything can change in football within the blink of an eye. For now, Icardi spoke about his love for Inter, where he is very much the main man.
"Real Madrid? I have everything at the 'Nerazzurri'. I'm good here in Italy, my team is top of the league and I'm the top goalscorer, what more could I ask for?", the 24-year-old asked 'Telefe'.
These latest comments from the Serie A star echo those made by the player a few days ago, after Inter's win over Cagliari. On that occasion, Icardi insisted that if Real Madrid called him, he would not answer.
It remains to be seen whether these comments will affect the tug-of-war over Icardi, give that recently his wife and agent, Wanda Nara, said that the striker has a number important offers from various clubs. One of them may well be from Real Madrid, even though Inter's sporting director denied it.
So as it stands, Icardi has turned down interest from the European champions, and he seems solely focused on a great season with Inter with the hope of, if Sampaoli agrees, going to the World Cup with Argentina.
