The Basque midfielder was relaxing ahead of pre-season training by having a kick-about with some friends on a beach football pitch when he volunteered for a spell between the sticks.
As one of his friends fired in a penalty, Herrera flung himself full stretch to his left to make an outstanding save, before taking to Twitter to make sure that team-mates David De Gea, Sergio Romero and Joel Pereira knew about his feat, saying "Hi David De Gea, Chiqui (Sergio Romero) and Joel Pereira , I hope you guys are enjoying your holidays but you should be a bit scared."
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to Barcelona this summer, though he has played down the rumours, insisting that he can't wait to get back to work in Manchester.
