Reports claim that Liverpool defender Joe Gomez is set to be handed his first England start by boss Gareth Southgate in Tuesday's friendly against Brazil.

The youngster is expected to come in for Phil Jones to form part of a three-man defence with Chelsea's Gary Cahill also set to miss out once again with a back problem.

The 20-year-old replaced Jones early on during the 0-0 draw with Germany on Friday, making his England debut in the process and impressed as England kept a clean sheet against the World Champions.

Now, according to 'The Daily Mail',  Southgate is ready to show his faith in the former Charlton man by fielding him against Neymar & co.

Gomez has made 12 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool so far this season, with many of those coming as a right-back.

Former Middlesbrough boss Southgate is expected to field Gomez, Harry Maguire and John Stones in defence, with Ryan Bertrand and Kyle Walker as wing-backs.

Meanwhile, Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be awarded another start following his Man of the Match performance against Germany alongside Eric Dier, who will captain the side once again.

Joe Hart is expected to start in goal, whilst Marcus Rashford will come in for Tammy Abraham in attack.
