Frank de Boer admitted that a mid-table finish would make him as happy as winning a trophy, as he won Hollands's Eredivise title four times atr Ajax.
The Dutchman, who trained Inter Milan and Ajax, will manage his new side Palace for the first time on Saturday against Huddersfield.
"OK, there is no trophy for 10th or 12th but that is a fantastic achievement for the club. That's what they expected from the manager when they started so for me so that's as nice as lifting a trophy", De Boer said.
"I think we already have a very good squad, so we have to wait. Only by changing the philosophy and the system you can make major changes", de Boer added.
