In an interview with the 'Express', the former Reds and England striker conceded that Coutinho will most likely leave Anfield and end up at the Catalan giants.
"I don't think Coutinho should leave Liverpool, but I think he will go to Barcelona," Heskey said.
"Every player in the Premier League would have their head turned by Barcelona or Real Madrid, they're two huge clubs. When those clubs show interest, players have to entertain that move."
Another former Premier League striker, Thierry Henry, backed Jurgen Klopp's summer signing from Roma, Mohamed Salah, to become Liverpool's best player, should Coutinho make the move to the Camp Nou.
He told 'Sky Sports', "[Salah] can be a player like Coutinho.
"For me, he is special, he has something special. He will be a special player for Liverpool."
