In December 2015 the 20-year-old set up the ShoSilva foundation after being inspired by visiting a children's hospice. He has decided that he wants to give back to the community where he grew up and to change the usual footballer stereotypes.
Sho-Silva told reporters, “I know how people respond to footballers, sometimes we don’t get a good press, and I wanted to show that not all footballers are about that lifestyle."
“Sometimes it’s not about yourself, it’s about giving back to the community."
Over the Easter period he visited the Children's hospice in Welling, Queen Elizabeth's Hospital, Woolwich and Lakeview Court residential homes and gave out gifts and more importantly made people smile.
