Celtic's first-team coach John Kennedy did nothing to quash rumours linking the winger with the Bhoys.
When asked about the potential signing of Scott Sinclair, Kennedy said: "There are a number of targets we're looking at.
"He is one that has been mentioned, but he's still an Aston Villa player. That is certainly the calibre of player we're looking at".
Many would argue that Sinclair produced the best football of his career to date under Brendan Rodgers at Swansea, where Sinclair played 91 times and scored 36 goals.
It now appears that Rodgers would relish the prospect to work with the 27-year-old once again and try to get the winger's career back on track.
