United States international Carli Lloyd has been named the best women's player of 2016, beating German Melanie Behringer and Brazilian Marta Vieira da Silva.

Despite the United States losing in the quarter-finals of the Olympic Games in Rio, 2016, her individual talent led to her winning the award for the best women's player of the year.

Lloyd also won the award last year, after the United States won the 2015 World Cup in Canada.
