Turkish midfielder Calhanoglu is expected to join AC Milan in the coming days after a deal worth up to €24m was agreed with his current club Bayer Leverkusen.
The deal is understood to comprise of an initial fee of €20m with a further €4m in add-ons and according to 'The Daily Mail', the Turk is expected to sign a four-year contract.
In an interview with German newspaper Bild, Calhanoglu thanked his soon-to-be former club, saying that "I want to thank Bayer Leverkusen, the directors and the fans for three fantastic years. Now I look forward to a new challenge."
Calhanoglu has not played in four months after being banned by FIFA for accepting a payment from Trabzonspor in 2011 before signing for them, even though he eventually reneged on the move.
The 23-year-old will be Milan's sixth signing of the summer.
