Boca Juniors starlet Pedro Silva Torrejon is set to join Middlesbrough on a year's loan with an option to make the deal permanent, Goal understands.
The 19-year-old left-back made his debut in the Argentine side's first team in May and was a regular in their reserve team throughout 2016.
He had been tipped to contend for a place in the senior setup on a full-time basis at the start of the 2016-17 campaign but has found opportunities difficult to come by and will now look to make the breakthrough in England.
Torrejon will join Boro's reserve team for the next 12 months with a view to earning a permanent contract at the end of that spell.
Reports in Argentina have claimed that the Premier League outfit are also interested in signing midfielder Julian Chicco and striker Matias Roskopf from Boca's youth ranks.
Middlesbrough's sole first-team signing so far this month has been Aston Villa striker Rudy Gestede, who joined the club in a £6 million deal.
