Blow for Tottenham as Vertonghen ruled out for two months

Scan results have indicated that Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen will be out of action for two months because of serious damage to his ankle ligaments.

The Belgian international sustained the injury in Saturday's win over West Brom.

Vertonghen had suffered an injury on the same ankle last season and was forced to miss out at Euro 2016.

While Spurs have been reluctant to confirm the time frame, but reports say the North London club fears the defender will miss as many as 10 games, including the crucial clashes with Manchester City and Liverpool.
