Rafael Benitez has decided to stay at Newcastle United and try to re-build the team and try to return them to the Premier League.
In the agreement which he signed when he took over at the club back in March, Benitez was given the option to exercise a break clause should the club be relegated. However, today it is believed the Spaniard has agreed to remain at the club on a three-year contact.
It is believed the 56-year-old did however demand greater power with regards to the budget and areas of control, including recruitment, from owner Mike Ashley.
