FULL-TIME: Barcelona 5-0 Las Palmas
It was somewhat of an anomaly that Barcelona scored only one goal in the first half against a tremendously cagey Las Palmas. O nce the visitors appeared to be getting a bit more adventurous in the second half, a barrage of goals arrived from Barcelona. Iniesta and Neymar did not feature as Luis Enrique opted to rest them but Barcelona never noticed their absence.
Barcelona miss big chance
Alcacer took too long to fire a shot from six meters and the Las Palmas defence collapsed on him and forced him to shoot it wide.

Paco Alcacer made a great low cross from the right and Aleix Vidal shot in motion to send it in the bottom left corner and score his first goal as a Barcelona player.

A great run by Boateng ended with an easy save for Ter Stegen, as the Las Palmas attacker run out of gas and fired off a lukewarm shot as he entered Barcelona's area.

A fantastic pass by Messi found Suarez behind the back of the Las Palmas defence. The Uruguay stiker's shot was blocked by Varas, but Turan got the rebound and tapped it in.

In a similar action to that which had led to the second goal, Rafinha penetrated the Las Palmas defence from the left and flicked it to Suarez, who masterfully aimed for the bottom right corner of Varas

The Las Palmas forward used his hand to control the ball and saw the yellow card.

Rafinha flicked the ball in from the left and goalkeeper Javi Varas, who had been Las Palmas' hero up until this point, misjudged his exit and Messi simply needed to tap the ball in.

It is rather surprising that Barcelona have scored only one goal as they created a host of chances. Las Palmas advanced past the midfield line on a handful of occasions, but their goalkeeper Javi Varas is keeping them in the game.

Messi took on the entire Las Palmas defence, went in and back out of the area and then passed on the left to Rafinha, whose shot from an angle passed just wide of the opposite post.

On their first approach to the Barcelona area, Las Palmas missed a chance as Boateng attempted an acrobatic kick to connect with a long ball from the right flank but the ball went wide.
Suarez misses chance
Rafinha dribbled his way into the Las Palmas area and passed to Suarez who could not control to his liking amid all the bodies in front of goal and sent the ball wide.

Suarez nets the first goal of the game off a great assist by Andre Gomes who took on the left back of Las Palmas and put in the cross.
