After following the club for almost 30 years, Bloomfield says that he will stay away next season.
In an article he wrote for 'The Guardian', Bloomfield states: "this season, I won’t be there. Because this season, Villa have signed John Terry."
The reason for his boycott is Terry's history of using racist language.
In October 2011, during a game between Chelsea and QPR, Terry called Anton Ferdinand a "f***ing black c**t". Despite admitting to making the remark, Terry was found not guilty at trial and was given just a four game ban by the FA, a veritable slap on the wrist.
Bloomfield argues that such an act in any other workplace would have led to the termination of Terry's contract but admits that racism in football is wrongly tolerated.
The Villan claims that the inicident has been whitewashed from Terry's record and points to the fact that there has been no mention of it in previous weeks as the defender closed in on a move to Villa.
Bloomfield concludes his article by simply saying " I can’t tell my friends “this is my team” and I can’t tell my son “this is your team” if John Terry wears claret and blue. As long as John Terry is a Villan, I’m not."
